Romeo and Juliet Act 1 Play Review
The play started off with the scene of Samson (Jasmin Lizardo) and Gregory (Bea Inocencio). During that scene, they were able to portray it nicely since they acted out their characters well. So, no one got confused. The language in the original play used early modern-english and in the one act play they were able to make it sound natural, especially Juliet (Carmela Cachola) and Romeo (Elle Blanch). Since the play started with a fight and the rest of the play is more on fighting, the play gives off a violent aura. This act focuses more on the violent side instead of the calm side.
The language that they used was very appropriate for the play. They were able to get the Shakespearean vibe of the language. Although, it would be better if they were able to express their dialogues with more feelings. Romeo (Elle Blanch) was able to express her dialogue properly. Aside from Romeo, Juliet was able to give off her feelings as well. They were the ones that showed the most emotion in the one act play. Especially, when they met during the ball. Even if they're not real lovers, I was satisfied by the chemistry they showed thorughout that scene. Indeed, it was the most memorable dialogue.
As a summary, the one act play caught me by surprise. I didn't expect that much since, they were the first group and they were the group that had the least amount of practice, but they were able to do an amazing job. From how they delivered their dialogues to the emotions given by the actors, it was fantastic. Even if it was a bit shaky in the middle, they were able to cover up their mistakes neatly. It was a touching memory that everyone should experience. You'll be moved by their performance and I definitely recommend this to other people as well.
